Do I have to book?

We are usually open each Wednesday and Sunday for booked tours at 10am, 11.30am, 1.30pm, and 3pm. We can also take walk-ins on those days. If you want to visit on other days contact us and we will do our best to book you in

What are your opening hours?

It depends on what you will be visiting us for. Click here for more about our house tours. You can also stay in the house overnight and even sleep in Dylan’s tiny bedroom, or you could have an Edwardian dinner party to celebrate that special occasion.

If I booked to stay would there be other people staying there as well?

No, we only book to one party at a time so even if you are just one person you have the run of the whole house.

Do you have a television?

No, the house is as it might have been in 1914 before the age of television and radio. However, there are lots of books and games for your entertainment, as well as a phonogram and a piano.

Can we cook a meal when we stay?

Yes. There is a modern gas cooker, a small fridge and an electric kettle. We also provide some local produce so you can enjoy a simple breakfast.

What else is included?

The cost of the stay includes bed linen, electricity, heating and towels. We also provide a starter pack of essentials like toilet paper, black bags and washing-up liquid. Enough for your first day or two. After that please provide your own.

Can we wash clothes in the house?

The house does not have a washing machine or dishwasher. There is a very good launderette in the Uplands shopping centre which is just a ¼ mile away.

Are there shops nearby?

Yes, at the bottom of the hill is the Uplands centre where there are mini-markets, takeaways, restaurants and a pub – the Uplands Tavern – where Dylan drank when he lived in the house.

Is the house part of The National Trust?

No, the house is privately owned and the restoration work was financed privately. The work received no support from the council or government so all the income for its upkeep comes from our visitors.

Can I bring my dog or cat?

Yes but please look at the images of the house to check if you think the house furnishings are suitable for your pet.
A condition of booking is that pets are not left unattended in the property. An exception is that well-behaved dogs can be left in a crate for short periods of time, as long as they are fully crate-trained, and will not bark if left alone. Pets are not allowed onto beds, sofas or other furniture. There is a small enclosed rear garden.

There are lots of lovely walks nearby in Cwmdonkin Park and many of the beaches on Gower are dog friendly.

Do you have Electric Vehicle Charging?

We do not have on-site charging facilities, you must make your own arrangements for EV charging. Domestic chargers, commonly known as ‘granny chargers’ or ‘trickle chargers’ are strictly forbidden. Closest charging points.

Is the house accessible for disabled users?

The house is a large semi-detached house which will not perfectly suit everyone’s mobility needs. There are three steps leading to the front door. All the bedrooms, bathroom, and WC are on the first floor although there is an outside WC at the rear of the kitchen. Please check with us that the property meets all your requirements before booking. We would be happy to show you around, or to take videos to help show the property layout.
